Centro Hospitalar e Universitário de Coimbra (CHUC) is one of the largest hospital complexes in Portugal and a major academic medical center. Located in Coimbra, a historic university city, CHUC was established in 2011 through the merger of several existing hospitals, including the Hospitais da Universidade de Coimbra (HUC), the Maternidade Bissaya Barreto, the Maternidade Daniel de Matos, the Hospital Pediátrico de Coimbra, and others. This integration created a unified health institution that combines advanced clinical care, teaching, and biomedical research.
