Changi General Hospital, Singapore

Changi General Hospital (CGH), part of the SingHealth cluster, is a major public general hospital serving communities in eastern and northeastern Singapore. With over 1,000 beds, CGH provides comprehensive medical, surgical, and specialty services, and also functions as a tertiary referral center for complex clinical care. It supports a population catchment of more than one million people, positioning itself as a critical hub in Singapore’s healthcare system.

CGH has its roots in a merger and relocation process: in 1997, the old Changi Hospital and Toa Payoh Hospital were consolidated, and the new facility opened in Simei in March 1998. Since then, the hospital has grown significantly, both in physical infrastructure and clinical capacity. Over the years, it has expanded its services, modernized its facilities, and strengthened its role in community care, reflecting Singapore’s evolving approach to integrated healthcare.

Today, CGH offers more than 23 medical services and houses multiple specialist centers such as the Breast Centre, Diabetes Centre, Geriatric Centre, and Sleep Services, among others. Beyond clinical care, the hospital plays an active role in education, research, and healthcare innovation. Through partnerships and community initiatives, CGH emphasizes prevention, healthy living, and patient empowerment, ensuring that care extends beyond the hospital walls into the broader community.
