Founded in 1984, Lenmed Hospital Group has grown from a small clinic in Lenasia—now known as Ahmed Kathrada Private Hospital—into a trusted, multi-country provider of private healthcare across Southern Africa.

Born during the apartheid era, Lenmed was established by visionary doctors aiming to improve medical access for historically underserved communities. That original facility, which began as a 40‑bed unit focused on obstetrics and gynaecology, now operates as a state-of-the-art hospital with over 300 beds, embodying Lenmed’s enduring commitment to community-centered care.

Today, Lenmed operates 19 hospitals spanning four African countries—South Africa, Botswana, Mozambique, and Ghana.
