Policlinico Umberto I, located at Viale del Policlinico 155 in Rome, is one of Italy’s premier academic hospitals. It serves as the teaching hospital for the Faculty of Medicine and Surgery at Sapienza University of Rome.

t stands as the largest hospital in Europe by occupied area, spanning approximately 300,000 m² across 54 pavilion-style buildings—46 within the main quadrilateral campus and 8 externally  . In terms of capacity, it ranks third in Italy by number of beds, after Policlinico Sant’Orsola-Malpighi in Bologna and the Agostino Gemelli University Policlinic—and is the second largest public hospital in the country.
